About You
Job Summary:
The radiology assistant plays a key role in supporting the hospital's diagnostic imaging services and overall patient care. This position is responsible for safely restraining small animals for radiologist to perform diagnostics, as well as performing a variety of technical duties in accordance with hospital policies and procedures. The assistant must be capable of lifting a large dog (sometimes weighing 50lbs or more) onto an exam/treatment table and may be required to assist with general clinic operations such as answering phones or aiding other departments.
The ideal candidate upholds the hospital's core values, demonstrates professionalism under pressure, and works collaboratively with the entire medical team while working under the guidance and supervision of the DVMs, lead technician, and Practice Manager. This role requires both independence and teamwork, attention to detail, and commitment to high-quality patient care.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Animal husbandry including walking, feeding, medication administration.
Exceptional communication skills, both written and oral, provide excellent customer service.
Is detail oriented.
Works independently when assigned tasks, goal oriented.
Able to handle multiple tasks at once and work well under pressure in an environment with continuously changing priorities.
Education and Experience:
1-2 years previous experience as a veterinary assistant or technician
Prior customer service experience required.

Customer service
Enter charges for ultrasound and additional diagnostics completed
i.e., FNA of the liver
Log all client communication as needed or directed by DVM on staff
Run Diagnostics
Properly request, schedule, and prioritize ultrasounds
Set up ultrasound room for radiologist
Know different ultrasound procedures and how to set up for them
Properly request radiographs
Know how to send out to be read via Vital Rads or Idexx
General Tasks
Assist other departments
Laundry, cleaning, stocking, unpacking shipments, patient care and maintenance
Communicate effectively and efficiently with other staff members.
Animal restraint
Any other tasks assigned
Physical Requirements:
Dependable attendance is required.
Must be able to lift 40 pounds, with our without reasonable accommodation.
Must be willing to work long or irregular hours under high pressure conditions while maintaining composure.
This position requires the ability to walk, bend, stand and reach constantly during a minimum of 8-hour day.
Visual acuity sufficient to maintain accurate records, recognize people and understand written directions.
Ability to speak and hear sufficiently to understand, give information in person and over the telephone.
Fine motor skills adequate for utilizing office equipment and hospital equipment such as laboratory equipment, radiology equipment, etc.
